There are a number of pre-made Save the Date templates available in BeFunky’s Designer, all of which look professional and eye-catching. These can be tweaked with just a few clicks, whether it be changing the image, names, venue, or date. If you want to delve a little deeper into the Designer and actually create your Save the Date from scratch, then you’re in luck, because we’re about to show you how!
Your Design, Your Way
Open BeFunky’s Designer and you’ll automatically find yourself in the Templates section. Scroll down to the bottom and select Blank Templates. Then, select Event Graphics.
Quick TipFor something a little different, we chose a blank template in landscape orientation. This is the 7″ x 5″ option.
The Perfect Personal Touch
The Save the Date trend at the moment sees couples including an image of themselves. This makes it more personal, as well as something your friends and family will display on their refrigerators for years to come. To insert your photo, select Image Manager in the sidebar (3rd option down). You can insert a photo from your computer, as well as from your BeFunky Gallery, Pixabay, or your Facebook profile.
Quick TipWant to create a Save the Date that doesn’t feature a photograph of you and your partner? You can find a beautiful stock photo from Pixabay instead! In Image Manager, click on the three dots and select Pixabay. You can then type what you’re looking for in the search bar.
Customize Your Design
Once uploaded, your image thumbnail will appear in your Image Manager. Simply click it and drag it over to your canvas. You can adjust its size by clicking and dragging the corners or rotate your photo using the blue dot at the top of the photo.
Quick TipIf you wish to edit your photo (for example, to fix blemishes or add cool effects such as filters) you can do so by clicking on the Open Image in Editor button located in the Image Properties pop-up toolbar.
Say It With Style
Next, you’ll want to start adding the important stuff – text! In the toolbar on the left, select the Text Editor (the ‘T’ icon). Text will immediately appear on your template. You can move it around by clicking and dragging it to where you’d like it to be, then double-click on it to edit the text. The Text Properties pane will appear, giving you options to change the font, scale, spacing, color, and so much more!
Quick TipWant a fancy font that isn’t currently available on your computer? Download and install one from a website such as dafont.com or purchase one from Etsy or Creative Market.
Design Elements To Suit Every Theme
Once your text is under control, it’s time to add some graphics, choose from fun illustrations, symbols, or other decorations. You’ll find the graphics by selecting Design Elements (the triangle icon) from the toolbar on the left. There are a number of categories to choose from, including one dedicated to weddings!
Quick TipUse various fonts and color combinations that work together cohesively for a design-savvy look!
Once you’re happy with your design, it’s time to save it! Select the Save drop down menu and choose whether you want to save it to your computer, BeFunky, Facebook, Google Drive, or Dropbox. Want to come back to your Save the Date at another time to make some changes? Select Save as Project, it’s probably best that you save both ways just in case.
It might sound like a small miracle to any couple planning a wedding, but the Designer allows you to create a stunning Save the Date in a just few clicks! Next up, creating your own wedding invitation and DIY wedding day printables!
