The Best Lipstick Shades For Your Skin Tone

By Whitney | Inspiration

Lipstick colors can be overwhelming. When I was choosing my makeup look for my wedding, I was tasked with the daunting choice of which lip color to choose.. and let me tell you, there are thousands of lip colors out there. Knowing which colors work best for your skin tone (or which one’s to stay away from) can be a huge time saver. Let me guide you through what I've learned about lip color so you don't have to learn the hard way.

For Fair Skin

You look best with orange-based shades and fruity colors that brighten your look without overpowering your face.

Bold reds and deep colors can also be a fun contrast to your skin tone.

For Beige Skin

You’re going to want a color that provides a nice contrast to your skin tone. You look best in pinks and true reds (ones that have equal amounts of yellow and blue)

Soft rose can be a nice everyday look for you too.

For Olive Skin

If you’re going for a red lipstick, go with one that has blue undertones.

You also look great in bright berry tones.

You look great with true reds, purples, pinks, and berries. You basically have the freedom to choose any color, so rock that lipstick!
